This was indicated by the organization via a press release published Friday morning. Isabelle Ducharme, Executive Director of the organization, spoke of a “very good first step” towards an improved and dynamic development and coaching environment.

Nevertheless, M.me Ducharme also expects the provincial government to focus on other federations and other disciplines, besides hockey, to allow athletes from all walks of life to develop fully.

« SPORTSQUÉBEC, which represents 67 sports federations, including Hockey Quebec, expects the government to immediately pay the same political and financial attention to the entire Quebec sports ecosystem. We are already hard at work to start this conversation with the government in order to make sport a priority in its program for the next few years. »

According to the organization, the last two years in times of pandemic have proven how crucial sport is for young people. It would therefore be important to act in this direction, since many sports organizations have suffered from underfunding for decades, supports SPORTSQUÉBEC.

The press release also mentions that it is “essential to pay particular attention to accessibility to sports practice and to the improvement of infrastructures. The organization is also calling for better volunteer support.
