“We have all heard the cries from the heart of young people, parents, specialists from different backgrounds, decrying the consequences on mental and physical health”, supported the organization which brings together 66 provincial sports federations and 17 regional units.

In their opinion, this is a serious social problem and it is time for the government to act. Especially since the various sports associations and federations have everything they need to respond to and respect health measures to protect the health and safety of all.

With the gradual return of students to school, SportsQuébec believes that it goes hand in hand that activities should resume at the same time. “The health and sports specialists are unanimous, the cessation of sport has consequences on many facets of the Quebec community in the short, medium and long term,” they added.

The plan proposed by the organization and its general manager Isabelle Ducharme consists of two stages.

First, a return to training in stable groups, while respecting health measures. Then, the resumption of games, tournaments, events and competitions. SportsQuébec recommends a period of three weeks between these steps.
