Sports doping | Byeong Hun An suspended by PGA

(Ponte Vedra Beach) Byeong Hun An was suspended for violating the PGA Tour’s anti-doping policy after consuming a banned substance found in an over-the-counter cough medicine in South Korea.

The PGA Tour announced the three-month suspension on Wednesday, and noted that the 32-year-old had cooperated during the investigation and accepted the sanction.

He therefore became the eighth golfer to be suspended since the PGA Tour adopted its anti-doping policy in 2008, and the first since Matt Every in 2019.

An finished at 44e rank in the FedEx Cup standings this season, which means he will be able to participate in all major tournaments on the circuit in 2024. His suspension is retroactive to last August 31, which means he will be eligible for a return to the game from 1er December.

An, who became the youngest US amateur champion at the age of 17 in 2009, has yet to triumph on the PGA Tour. However, he won the most prestigious tournament on the European Tour, the BMW PGA Championship, in 2015, and he took part in the Presidents Cup in Australia in 2019.
