Journalist Samuel Ollivier, present on the set of 8 Heures, Tuesday November 14, is interested in handiboxing. In the United States, a club aims to make it the next Paralympic sport.
Handiboxing is in the spotlight in the column of journalist Samuel Ollivier, Tuesday November 14. “Handiboxing is integrated into the French Boxing Federation. It concerns a little more than 200 people in France. Athletes are classified by weight categories when possible, but above all according to the disability, mental or motor”indicates the journalist, present on the 8 Heures set.
“It’s just a matter of touch.”
There is no knockout or violent blow in handiboxing. “It’s prohibited by the regulations, it’s simply played on the sidelines”, specifies Samuel Ollivier. Handiboxing exists in many countries, such as the United States. In a club in Fairfax (Virginia), competitive fights are organized. The club’s coach wants to make handiboxing the next Paralympic sport. “Will the road be long? Maybe, but that’s why we are here. This club is determined to be a pioneer”indicates Joanna Bonilla, disabled boxer in the American club.
