Present on the set of 8 Hours, Tuesday, February 21, journalist Samuel Ollivier returns to what the rodeo consists of. The principle is to last eight seconds on a wild horse. The term “rodeo” comes from the Spanish verb “rodear”, which means “to encircle”, “to turn around”. “It comes from UNITED STATES : the first recognized competition dates from 1883 in Texas”says Samuel Ollivier.

In Nicaragua, the horse is replaced by a bull. Rodeo is very popular in this country. Eveling Perez, cook and mother of two children, decided to turn her passion for rodeo, a sport traditionally reserved for men, into a fight against received ideas and machismo. “My brother used to ride, and when I was young I told him I wanted to ride. He told me it was for men, but I think if men can do it, then we can do it too.”says Eveling Perez. “Waiting for other women to imitate her, men end up considering her as their equal, even if there is still a little work to do”continues Samuel Ollivier.
