(Davos) Calle Andersson scored the game-winning goal with 3:45 left in regulation and HC Davos beat Canada 4-3 on Thursday at the Spengler Cup.
The host team scored three goals in a row in the third period. Michael Fora scored at 1:23 to cut the lead to 3-2 for Canada and Andres Ambuhl tied the game midway through the period.
Josh Jooris opened the scoring for the Canadians at 4:48 of the first period. Henrik Haapala scored HC Davos’ first goal of the game, making the score 1-1 at 10:54 of the second period.
Michael Joly gave Canada the lead again at 17:22 of play and John Quenneville doubled his team’s lead 1:39 later.
The Spengler Cup is an annual tournament between European teams and a team made up of Canadian players.
Last year, Canada lost in the quarter-finals.
The action ends on Sunday.
