In a press release, the baseball club claims to “collect more information” and does not want to comment further “out of respect for the legal process”.

Multiple media reported that Walker was pulled over by police in the early hours of Friday morning in Oldsmar, Florida. He was arrested because he was driving at almost twice the speed limit.

Also according to reports by other media outlets, Walker refused to submit to a breathalyzer test, but failed the standardized roadside sobriety test.

On Saturday, Walker was still with the Blue Jays in Tampa, Fla., where they defeated the New York Yankees 10-9 at George M. Steinbrenner Stadium in the Grapefruit League.

After the game, Walker spoke to the media and apologized to the team and his family. He said he was in communication with his attorney to resolve the situation.

The Blue Jays also released their reaction in a statement after the game.

The 52-year-old coach has been with the organization since 2009. He has been in charge of the pitching staff since November 2012. Before becoming a coach, he was a pitcher in the Jays uniform between 2002 and 2006.
