Normally scheduled for March 14 to 16, the baccalaureate specialty exams will finally take place in mid-May. The health situation motivated this decision, announced Friday, January 28 by the Minister of National Education Jean-Michel Blanquer, after a meeting with the unions.

They will have two more months to revise the specialty tests of the baccalaureate. For high school students, it is a relief, because the Covid-19 has disrupted the lessons of these tests which account for almost a third of the final mark. They will finally take place from May 11 to 13, rather than from March 14 to 16. “On the Monday and Tuesday preceding the exam, the high schools will devote themselves to these specialty lessons”announced the Minister of National Education, Jean-Michel Blanquer, on Friday 28 January.

Another arrangement: pupils should be able to choose between two subjects for a test, instead of a single subject. These measures were taken after consultation with the teachers’ unions. Some welcome a resumption of dialogue with the ministry. “There were exchanges like there hadn’t been for a very long time”recognizes Sophie Vénétitay, secretary general of the SNES-FSU.
