SPECIAL ENVOY / FRANCE 2

On social networks, they are hundreds to offer illegal injections of hyaluronic acid, throughout France. They promise new lips or high cheekbones at bargain prices. The victims of these injectors who practice medicine illegally are multiplying. “Special Envoy” has infiltrated the business of low-cost cosmetic surgery, and followed a clandestine “training” unearthed on Instagram.

That day, a journalist from “Special Envoy” will learn a few gestures of aesthetic medicine… completely illegally. She will follow (and film with a hidden camera) a clandestine training that she discovered on Instagram. His promise: to earn a lot money by injecting hyaluronic acid into women wishing to plump up their lips or cheekbones. To register, just send a message. The “trainers” claim to be number one in injection techniques, and their course is on sale: 1,280 euros instead of 1,800 – to be paid in cash. They are not doctors, and are fully aware of the illegal nature of their activity.

Prices four times lower than those charged by a surgeon

The pseudo-training will last all day. First, three hours of theory, to know where to inject into the lips. In the afternoon, we go to practice with injections on customers attracted by knockdown prices, four times lower than those practiced by a cosmetic surgeon.

“- What are the risks ?
– It depends on whether you screwed up a face or not…”

In a pseudo-training in hyaluronic injections

filmed in hidden camera by “Special Envoy”

A “student” who said to herself “in panic“the morning begins with a young woman who wants injections in her temples and cheekbones. For the first time in her life, she injects hyaluronic acid into a face… Trainers and students are in the midst of illegal practice of medicine, an offense punishable by two years in prison and a fine of 30,000 euros.

Injections in the face, “the most dangerous”

“Special Envoy” showed these images to Adel Louafi, president of the National Union of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery. He is flabbergasted:She is doing it on a guinea pig, when we know that injections in the face are the most dangerous that we can do…”

At the end of the day, seven women will have served as guinea pigs. The two trainers will leave with more than 6,000 euros (undeclared) in their pocket, after graduating students. A worthless sheet of paper bearing the words “injection certificate”. The journalist also received it, even though she refused to make any injections during that day…

Excerpt from “The ravages of clandestine injections”, a report to see in “Special Envoy” on February 23, 2023.
