Special Advisor to the Director General | Jarome Iginla returns with the Calgary Flames

(Calgary) The Calgary Flames announced Thursday the return of Jarome Iginla to their organization as a special advisor to general manager Craig Conroy.

In a press release, the Flames said Iginla will have an advisory role in all areas of hockey operations, as assigned by the general manager.

This year, the statement also said, Iginla will continue his coaching responsibilities at RINK Hockey Academy in Kelowna, B.C., and support the Flames on a part-time basis.

Iginla was the 18e captain in Flames franchise history after receiving the honor in 2003 when then-captain Conroy relinquished the position to him.

Iginla had 525 goals, 570 assists and 1,095 points in 1,219 games as a Flames player and established himself as one of the best power forwards of his generation.

Selected at 11e ranked by the Dallas Stars in the 1995 draft, Iginla joined the Flames on December 19, 1995.
