spared in the draw, the French will face Brazil, Jamaica, and a play-off in the group stage

A good draw for France. Les Bleues will meet Brazil, Jamaica, and a play-off during the first round of the World Cup, which will take place in the heart of next summer (July 20-August 20, 2023) in New Zealand and Australia. The draw, which took place at Auckland (Australia), Saturday October 22, was therefore rather favorable to the French, avoiding the formidable Canadians, recent Olympic champions, as well as the big teams from Denmark, the Netherlands and Norway.

For their first match, the Habs will therefore face Jamaica on July 23, then Brazil on July 29 before finishing their group against a play-off on August 2. Seeded number 5, the Blues were sure to avoid the Americans in the first round, double title holders (and who eliminated France in the quarterfinals at the last World Cup), as well as the English European champions. Fallen in group F, and the United States in group E, the French could even meet the Americans only in the final of the World Cup if the two teams were to qualify.

The first real difficulty could arise from the round of 16, since the group of France will meet that of Germany, its pet peeve. To avoid the Germans, you will have to finish first in your group, just like Germany. France will play its three matches in Australia, with more favorable times than those of New Zealand (+13 hours) for the French public (+11h).

In the meantime, after two consecutive defeats in friendly matches, in Germany (2-1) then in Sweden (3-0), the Blue hope to return to victory against Norway, on November 10, in Alicante (Spain). But uncertainty still hangs over the tricolor clan after the injuries of the two major players, the Parisian Marie-Antoinette Katoto, and the Lyonnaise Griedge Mbock.
