Lviv (Ukraine), for the moment spared by the fighting, has become a humanitarian rear base. A museum turned into a donation collection center for refugees on Thursday, March 10.

In the heart of the historic center of Lviv (Ukraine), residents arrive with their arms full, Thursday, March 10. “We bring cribs, we have sheets, blankets and a mattress”, describes one of them. They drop off food, boxes of medicine and clothes. A fortnight ago, the place was a cultural center where children exhibited their drawings. Today, it looks like a gigantic humanitarian platform.

“Here was the concert hall, on this stage children were doing shows, there was dancing and we were showing films”, says the head of the center. Volunteers sort donations, including clothing. They are between 300 and 500 to take turns day and night. The donations then go to the Ukrainian cities of Kharkiv or Sumy, where the inhabitants need them most. A mother arrives from the south of Kiev, she fled with her daughter. The refugees find a little comfort in the center before continuing on their way to Europe.
