Spanish driver Carles Falcon, victim of a fall on January 7 during the 2nd stage of the Dakar 2024 in Saudi Arabia, died on Monday January 15, his team announced in a press release. “This Monday, January 15, Carles left us. The medical team confirmed that the neurological damage caused by the cardiorespiratory arrest at the time of the accident was irreversible”specified the Twintrail Racing Team.
The Spanish motorcyclist (45 years old), who was participating in his second Dakar on a motorcycle, had to be resuscitated on site following a cardiac arrest, before being transferred by helicopter to Al Duwadimi hospital, at west of Riyadh. Plunged into a coma for eight days, he suffered “from a fracture of the C2 vertebra”. The team also clarified that he suffered from brain edema.
