Spaniards may have to return to the polls sooner than expected as the elections failed to deliver an outright majority. Live from Madrid, we find the journalist Valéry Lerouge, Monday, July 24.
The elections on Sunday July 23 failed to produce an absolute majority in Spain. “However, there is indeed a winner (…), it is the popular right-wing party but it wins fewer seats than expected and even by allying with the far right, the bloc will not have an absolute majority”reports journalist Valéry Lerouge, live from Madrid (Spain) on Monday 24 July. “It suits Pedro Sánchez, the Socialist Prime Minister, who intends to stay in power thanks to this by forming a broad coalition”explains Valéry Lerouge.
A return to the polls
Indeed, Pedro Sánchez could form a collation by going from the extreme left, to the center and going through all the regional independence parties, even if it turns out to be complicated. “The negotiations have already started but they will last several months. We are still moving towards a return to the polls by the end of the year as already in 2015 and 2019″concludes the journalist.
