The British and fans of Elizabeth II spend lavishly to buy any object in reference to the queen and bouquets of flowers.

Mugs, t-shirts, figurines … In a souvenir store in London (United Kingdom), on Sunday September 11, attendance has tripled since the announcement of the death of Queen Elizabeth II. An additional salesperson had to be hired, and deliveries were accelerated. For a mother and her daughter, coming back from here with a souvenir of the sovereign was essential. A feeling shared by many Britons. “People really miss the queen, that’s why it’s going fast”says the store manager.

Florists are also taken by storm. The managers of a store had to double the deliveries. “We had a really busy weekend, we sold almost everything. We have people who have been coming constantly since Friday to buy small bouquets, drop them off and show their respect”, explains an employee. The situation has only just begun and is expected to continue at least until the Queen’s funeral on Monday September 19.
