Southern Quebec | Intense cold until Saturday

An extreme cold snap will begin Thursday afternoon across southern Quebec. Wind chill values ​​between -38 and -42°C are forecast until Saturday in the majority of regions.


“A vigorous cold front will cross Quebec between this afternoon and Friday morning. Following the passage of this front, temperatures will drop sharply in a few hours,” says Environment Canada.

Conditions will be arduous for the next two days, with the presence of strong winds which will generate “extreme wind chill” in certain regions in the evening.

In the Gatineau, Abitibi, Lac-Saint-Jean, Mont-Laurier and Saguenay regions, snow squalls are expected. Visibility could be greatly reduced due to heavy snow and blowing snow.

“Travel could be dangerous due to a sudden change in weather conditions,” according to Environment Canada.
