South of Nantes, a 14-year-old disappears for 8 hours before being found

The anguish lasted for long hours, this Tuesday, south of Nantes. A 14-year-old boy, on holiday in La Chevrolière with his mother, got lost during a bike ride. A large police force has been deployed. He was finally found behind Nantes-Atlantique airport.

Accustomed to bike rides

What particularly worried the gendarmes was that the boy, of Italian origin and who lives in Marq-en-Maroeul, suffers from autistic disorders. So they didn’t know how he could react. This Tuesday morning, he left by bike as he does every day since he is on vacation with his mother at friends. He is used to doing several loops of the same route before returning.

Except this time, his attention was diverted by a dog. That’s how he got lost. And, to make matters worse, he was left without his mobile phone and his watch connected that he usually has with him. His mom and her friends started looking for him, to no avail. They therefore warned the gendarmes a little before 3 p.m.

Research using the gendarmerie helicopter

A large research system is then deployed: about thirty soldiers, on foot, by car, supported by a canine team and a helicopter. For several hours, it does nothing.

The teenager ends up being spotted behind Nantes-Atlantique airport by a gentleman who is surprised to see him on the side of the road, looking lost. His bike derailed. Fortunately, he knows his mother’s phone number by heart. She jumps for joy when she learns that her son is well. The gendarmes then take him to find him.

The mother who jumps for joy

As the crow flies, there are 15 kilometers between La Chevrolière and Nantes-Atlantique airport, but the gendarmes estimate that in 8 hours, the teenager must have driven much more, all that without eating or drinking.
