SPG Südburgenland/TSV Hartberg Extends Winning Streak
The SPG Südburgenland/TSV Hartberg is on a remarkable winning streak, showcasing their prowess on the pitch. This past Saturday, they celebrated an impressive 0:4 victory over the Wiener Sport-Club, a scoreline that could have even been more lopsided.
Dominating Performance Against Wiener Sport-Club
WIEN / SÜDBURGENLAND – Following their thrilling 5:3 win against the Wildcats Krottendorf, Harald Bacher’s squad made their way to face the Wiener Sport-Club. Earlier in the season, they had triumphed with a staggering 7:1 victory in both league and cup matches at home and away, setting high expectations for this encounter.
From the start, the Südburgenland women exhibited dominance, although the youthful Wiener Sport-Club team displayed commendable resilience, particularly their goalkeeper, Laura Götsch, who thwarted numerous attempts at goal. The first chance came from a free kick taken by Katja Dorn, but Lilla Sipos’s effort was merely a warm-up for Götsch.
The breakthrough came in the 24th minute when a saved shot from Sipos led to a close-range goal by Denisa Skálová. Following this, the momentum shifted rapidly. A cross from Sipos intended for Skálová inadvertently sailed over Götsch into the net, making it 2-0 in the 29th minute. Just moments later, Sipos’s free kick narrowly missed the target, but in the 32nd minute, she assisted Anja Bacher, who fired a long-range shot for the third goal. This quick succession of goals within eight minutes effectively sealed the game before halftime, with the score at 0:3.
In the second half, the Bacher girls continued to dominate, although the young opponents occasionally ventured towards goalkeeper Fiona Fazekas’s goal. However, the real scoring threat remained with the Südburgenland team.
Despite a disallowed goal for a foul on the goalkeeper after Bacher hit the post, Skálová managed to find the net again in the 64th minute, capitalizing on a corner kick. The team created several more opportunities, with Sipos coming close multiple times, yet Götsch’s impressive performance kept the scoreline intact.
A controversial moment arose in the 86th minute when Götsch tackled Bacher in the penalty area, but the referee allowed play to continue. Late in the match, Maurer received a yellow-red card, resulting in her suspension for the upcoming match against Horn.
The ‘Limousine’ of the Südburgenland women rolls on, maintaining their lead over the Wildcats Krottendorf and FAC-Landhaus. They are set to face SV Horn next Sunday in a home match at 3 PM in Mischendorf.
Additionally, the 1b team will host the women from SV Stallhofen in their spring championship opener on Sunday at 2 PM, followed by a match against the Kötz-Haus Ladies next Saturday at 3 PM.
