South African Wiaan Liebenberg will bow out

Clap of premature end for Wiaan Liebenberg. At only 29 years old, the South African third line, out of contract next June, has decided to end his career as a professional player at the end of this season. This choice was not conditioned by his physical condition or fear of injury. He is above all human.

After starting his career at the Pretoria Bulls, Wiaan Liebenberg arrived in France in 2015, in Montpellier. After three seasons in Hérault, he joined the Maritimes as a medical joker in November 2018. He is therefore playing his fourth and final season in La Rochelle, for which he has already worn the jersey 68 times.

The time has not yet come to the balance sheet, but he retains some highlights from his Charente lease. His first match at Deflandre and the two finals (lost) last season. A regret ? Not having won a title with Stade Rochelais, but he still has a few months to achieve it.

The pandemic and the first confinement allowed him to settle down and think about the follow-up to be given to his life as a man. He who has just obtained his diploma in wealth management has discovered new passions. The South African explained the reasons for his choice in a video published by Stade Rochelais.
