Soul driving near a school, he is stopped by citizens

Unimpressed to see a visibly drunk motorist strolling near a primary school at lunchtime in La Minerve, citizens took it upon themselves to prevent him from causing harm, before the police could come and arrest him.

According to what the Sûreté du Québec explained, people near the school noticed that the driver, a man in his forties, was in “advanced state of intoxication” while using his car.

To prevent a tragedy from happening, citizens intercepted him and removed the keys from the ignition of the car to prevent the motorist from driving, while waiting for the arrival of the police who proceeded to arrest him.

The driver, who had already been caught in the past for drunk driving, refused to submit to the analysis protocol. He could nevertheless face charges for driving while intoxicated, in addition to being entitled to a further charge for refusing to provide a breath sample.

The man will spend the night in jail before his appearance on Wednesday, while his vehicle was towed away.
