Sophie Marceau relaxed and chic: great reunion with a key person in her life!

In 1980, Sophie Marceau’s life changed. It was that year that the young girl literally burst onto the big screen to place herself forever in the hearts of all French people, thanks to the film The party by Claude Pinoteau. A tailor-made role for the teenager she was at that time and who also counted on the talents of the actors who played alongside her, first and foremost the late Claude Brasseur, her father in the film, and Brigitte Fossey, her movie mom. The latter found for her greatest pleasure the French star on the occasion of the screening of the film A woman of our time by Jean-Paul Civeyrac.

The complicity between Sophie Marceau (55) and Brigitte Fossey (76) has not aged a bit, forty-two years after the release of the cult film The party. The two women appeared more radiant than ever in the time of the 7th Art that is the Cinémathèque in Paris this September 29, 2022 where the screening of the feature film A woman of our time took place. A work that is far from the tenderness of her first film, since the actress plays a police commissioner who discovers her husband’s infidelity and sees herself committing acts that she would never have believed herself capable of. Relaxed and chic during this screening, Sophie Marceau dons a much darker costume in this feature film in theaters on October 5th.

It always remains a little surprising, and of course, very moving.

Director Jean Paul Civeyrac, who is more accustomed to working with young, beginner or little-known actors, had the pleasure of directing an actress as famous as Sophie Marceau. The actress accepted the project as soon as she read the script, as indicated in the film’s production notes. “I can say that she is not only a wonderful actress who knows how to control her acting perfectly, but that she has something more, and more important to me: a kind of abandonment, as if she were offering something itself in the planes into which it seems to throw itself without thinking any longer of the effects it must produce. This is why it always remains a little surprising, and of course, very moving,“explains the filmmaker.

The sublime fifties is well in her professional life, daring any kind of ambitious project. In her personal life, the mother of Vincent and Juliette is also fulfilled, letting go of the passage of time. “You can’t be in control all the time. The only thing I can control is the inside, that’s what I’m trying to say, that’s what I’m trying to convey, it’s to control by listening to talk, to be as close as possible to what I want to express, it’s ‘is of convey something authentic…” she confided to the microphone of Brut.
