Fourteen years ago Sophie ferjani was revealed to the general public. That year, the interior designer joined Stéphane Plaza’s new show, House for sale on M6. An opportunity that has led to others. Indeed, the mother of three children was then called to present the decoration section of the show 100% Mag from 2008 to 2014. In parallel, she shared her advice in 100% Deco, Gîtes like no other, D&CO, Better at home, or Domino Challenge.
It is therefore an understatement to say that Sophie Ferjani has imposed herself on our screens even if she is far from devoting all her time to her television activities. Indeed, the pretty redhead is also invested in her own decoration shop in Marseille. A very personal project that she managed to launch thanks to her nascent notoriety a few years ago. “TV made everything easier for me but maybe because I worked harder. I would say that the hardest part was getting recognition from the production … and internally. The show in itself has always gone well, my job, I know how to do it, I question myself every time. I always tell my children ‘confidence is your worst enemy’, you should never be sure of yourself. I always have a ball in my stomach before starting a project. And so I’ll make it happen cause I don’t wanna disappoint“, she confided in the podcast of TV Leisure, Women of TV.
If the TV has brought her a lot, Sophie Ferjani does not speak in financial terms because according to her, this environment does not pay very well. “When I started 14 years ago, everyone told me ‘you’re going to do TV, you’re going to earn so much …’ except that in fact, that’s not how it is. The money, we earn it by notoriety, by the publicity which comes after behind. Doing a show in itself does not save a living!“, she recalled. Moreover, not very well known at the beginning, the accomplice of Stéphane Plaza took time to be heard and to obtain a salary in accordance with his working time.”I would earn better my living purely, if one brings back the price of the day, if I worked with my clients. Except that TV pays less. I had to fight and prove ‘but you realize, everything I do, compared to the number of days’. And I was told ‘yes finally you should be happy to be on TV’. It’s always this relationship that I found difficult, because I didn’t want to make TV, I didn’t care. I have had battles and it is this bitterness that remains in my mouth after 14 years“, she regrets.
