Valérie Lemercier did not make the trip for nothing by going to the Olympia for the 47th Cesar ceremony. On Friday February 25, the actress and director won the César for Best Actress for her film Aline and its freely inspired interpretation of the life of Celine Dion. When she went on stage to collect her statuette, which Omar Sy gave her, she gave a speech which was experienced by the public and viewers as a highlight of the evening.
“Grandmother, I know that at this time, you sleep. I also know that you hardly ever watch television. Except sometimes in the afternoon, an auction show hosted by Sophie Davant called ‘Affaire concluded’, in which I have little chance of going to resell this object“, she said, addressing her mother. “For the first time in your life, you loved me in a movie. It is very important and above all you told me in a message that I will always keep“.
If in her speech, she had a thought about her Quebec idol, she concluded by saying: “I will remember it all my life. And I hope that I will have as much luck with my next film, on the story of Martine Aubry“.
The day after the event on Instagram, Sophie Davant wanted to congratulate the winner. “Congratulations to you, Valérie Lemercier for this magnificent, well-deserved César! What a film, what a performance!”she first said. “Thank you to Mother-Grandmother (your mother), for her loyalty to Affaire concluded. Valérie, if you feel like bringing us your César on the set of the show, you are welcome! Come see us with Mother- Great! Congratulations again and long live your film.
