Five Junior Team Canada players will soon be accused of sexual assault, according to reports Wednesday morning Globe and Mailciting several sources.
They would have been ordered to go to the London police station, in Ontario, according to these people who spoke with the daily on condition of anonymity.
THE Globe and Mail clarified that the players, who have still not been formally charged, would have a certain period of time to report to the police station.
Last November, Hockey Canada said the findings of the investigation into allegations of sexual assault against certain members of the 2018 Canada Junior Team (JCT) were disputed.
The organization indicated at the time that an appeal process, by videoconference, would take place “in the near future”.
Hockey Canada mentioned that an independent arbitration tribunal had received the final investigation report from Henein Hutchison Robitaille sr l. / SENCRL in November 2022.
The tribunal was mandated to hold a hearing to determine whether certain ECJ members in 2018 had violated Hockey Canada’s code of conduct and, if so, what sanctions should be imposed on these players.
The sports federation said the tribunal provided its final report to all parties involved, but shortly thereafter a notice of appeal was filed, which is permitted under the court’s inquiry and arbitration procedures. Hockey Canada.
All 2018 ECJ players remain suspended by Hockey Canada and are currently ineligible as players, coaches, officials or volunteers within programs sanctioned by the organization.
