Friday, May 27, the JT of 20 Hours presents how tenants, for whom the conditions of access to housing are too strict, are forced to cheat in their files.

Some modify their payslips, others their employment contracts in order to qualify for rentals. A 26-year-old working man was looking for accommodation in Paris, without a fixed income, he decided to pass himself off as a student. He thus falsified his school certificate. According to a study, one file out of five would be falsified in the Paris region. In the rest of France, about 10% of cases are settled.

The selection criteria are indeed increasingly strict: income equivalent to three rents, CDI, guarantor… Many do not meet them. “An owner must be scrupulous because the eviction deadlines will be very long and he will not be able to recover his property after 18 months“, explains Christophe Demerson, president of the National Union of Property Owners (UNPI). Near Lille (North), a company has developed software to identify false documents.
