Sleater Kinney
For 30 years – if we ignore a break of almost 10 years in the mid-2000s – Sleater-Kinney has been a safe bet. The American duo composed of Carrie Brownstein and Corin Tucker – following the departure in 2019 of drummer Janet Weiss – is always authentic, feminist and does not hesitate to express its political opinions. This Little Rope11e SK album, is no exception, although it is sadder than usual. However, the 10 songs produced by the versatile John Congleton also form a journey from suffering to healing.

After thinking about becoming a kindergarten teacher (!) following the release of the album and animated film Entergalactic, in 2022, the versatile Scott Mescudi finally decided to record his eleventh album. Obviously, there was no shortage of inspiration, Insano being made up of 21 parts. It includes Travis Scott, Pharrell Williams, A $ AP Rocky, Lil Wayne, Young Thug, Lil Yachty as well as the late XXXTentacion. DJ Drama “animates” the work produced by a multitude of composers, such as Dot da Genius, Bnyx, Mike Zombie, WondaGurl and Jean-Baptiste Kouame. Like his previous records, Insano reveals more personal facets of Kid Cudi while offering a number of cheerful songs.

Sixth album from the teacher turned singer, The sum of loved ones was born during the last months of the artist’s father’s life. “I found it difficult to go deep into my gut, to go there for real. It came to me feeling hollow, but that’s so much the better,” he confided in an interview with The Press. To demonstrate the emotion of the remarks, which also deals with “the importance of [siens] And [de] the fleeting quest for simple happiness”, Alexandre Poulin was inspired by the sounds of the 1970s. He surrounded himself with Ghyslain Luc Lavigne, Richard Deschêne, Félix-Antoine Beaudoin and Antoine Loiselle to bring the work to fruition. He will present it on tour, starting January 28, throughout Quebec.

American Dream is not only the Atlanta rapper’s first solo album since I am > I Was, launched in 2018, but it is also the soundtrack to the film of the same name which stars Donald Glover, Caleb McLaughlin and Natasha Lyonne, and which will be released on July 4. 21 Savage has brought together an impressive lineup of artists for the occasion: Travis Scott, Young Thug, Doja Cat, Metro Boomin, Summer Walker, Burna Boy, Mariah The Scientist, Lil Durk and Brent Faiyaz. Despite the abundance of collaborators, the work is certainly the British-born MC’s most intimate. On a variety of rhythms, both trap and RnB, he offers a reflection on his journey strewn with pitfalls.
