In nursing homes, 80% of residents received their booster dose. However, establishments tend to reintroduce restrictive measures concerning visits in particular. Some people forbid them.
A decorated tree and a Christmas log, but of families. In the nursing home in Fleuré, in Vienne, the holidays are celebrated with restrictions that residents are forced to accept. Protective measures decided by the establishment in the face of the resumption of the epidemic. It is now necessary to make an appointment to see the seniors.
The measures are even more drastic in a retirement home in the Somme. No visits or outings for residents, all vaccinated from the establishment, where a cluster was detected. “We have two cases declared at the level of residents and six among staff”, explains Marie Delannoy, nurse at the Saint-Riquier nursing home (Somme). In the establishment, activities continue but residents are confined until further notice. The High Public Health Council recommends it on the basis of three cases detected. The families, notified of the situation by email, are disappointed and “frustrated”. “But we have to reason, it’s for the good of everyone”, relativizes the son of a resident. The 163 seniors of the establishment will be tested again on Tuesday, December 14, to find out whether the confinement of the nursing home should be extended.
