In order to save on the energy bill, a factory in the North will increase its production at night. Indeed, during off-peak hours, electricity is cheaper.
In Forest-sur-Marques (Nord), an envelope manufacturing plant runs on electricity. With rising energy prices, the future is uncertain. One of the solutions could be to produce as much as possible at night, because electricity can be up to 200 times cheaper between peak hours and off-peak hours. “By spending our production activity at night, (…) we are protected from this type of time slot with huge prices”explains Elodie Bia, development manager.
Five teams will work at night, against two currently, on a voluntary basis, with allowances. “If I have to stay overnight, I will”, assures Ludo Delmotte, trimmer. Like him, the majority of employees are willing to work nights. The factory tried to reduce the energy bill by installing photovoltaic panels on its roof. “Today, the leeway we have is the organization of our work”says Kevin Franco, Pocheco Sales Manager.
