“It’s not just about solidarity” with Ukraine “turns into suicide”, castigates the head of the Reconquête list Marion Maréchal, Friday March 22 on France Inter in “Fridays of Europe”. If the candidate “obviously wants Ukraine to be able to defend its borders and its sovereignty” And “considers that it is legitimate that France and other European countries can help”she said to herself “formally opposed to there being a common loan for this aid”. Several states, including France, but also Portugal and Estonia, spoke out on Thursday in favor of a European loan to help the country fight against the Russian invasion.
For the head of the list of Eric Zemmour’s party, the common loan is “the prerequisite for the creation of a European tax”which she does not want in any way. “In the project desired by Ursula von der Leyen, the EPP (European People’s Party) and its majority, to which the LR and the socialists belong today, there is this desire to potentially create a European tax tomorrow which would be added to national taxes without the different countries being able to have their say on the setting of the rate of this tax”, explains Marion Maréchal.
“Unfair competition” with Ukraine
The candidate for the European elections comes out in favor of using frozen Russian assets to finance aid to Ukraine, “as long as it does not once again affect the European community”. On the other hand, she is not for the integration of Ukraine into the European Union. “We do not tell the French and Europeans that the integration of Ukraine, which has an average salary of around 300 euros, into the common market will tomorrow be the grave of French agriculture and our farmers”she says.
The 27 member states of the European Union and the European Parliament reached an agreement on Wednesday to extend the opening of the European market without customs duties to foodstuffs until 2025, with the option of capping these imports thanks to of the “safeguard mechanisms”. Marion Maréchal denounces “unfair competition”. “If tomorrow there is an integration of Ukraine into the European market, there will no longer be a ceiling,” supports the candidate. She believes that “that’s not true” that Ukraine will have to comply with European standards.
“Unfair competition occurs first and foremost on prices, on labor costs, on social charges.”
Marion Maréchalon France Inter
Marion Maréchal speaks out against “all enlargements” of the European Union. “We can clearly see that we have a certain number of handicaps to manage already at 27, we feel that the building is fragile”she says. “If we start to expand, we integrate additional difficulties, especially if the economic differentials are significant.”
