solidarity sewing workshops for women with breast cancer in Vienne

In the Salle des Moulins in Champigny-en-Rochereau, volunteers make drain bags, to hide “this horrible jar” according to Elisabeth, a resident of Poitiers. This solidarity sewing day is organized on Saturday October 1 by two associations Lovely Solidarity and Cousette & co engaged in the awareness campaign Pink October.

Using her sewing machine, Françoise assembles fabrics “both for very young women, but also for older ones. Everyone is concerned. Tomorrow it could be meOpposite, Ghislaine also wants to improve the daily life of women. “The drain can frighten the children, the family” explains Nathalie, vice-president of the association Cousette & compagnie.

Each year more than 54,000 new breast cancers are detected in France, in Vienne, about 300 to 400.

300 drain bags per year

Alongside this day of solidarity, the Lovely Solidarity association works in partnership with clinics and hospitals in Vienne. She gives them about 300 drain bags a year. “_Anyone can make it at home all year round_, there are distribution centers all over the department.
