Solheim Cup | Georgia Hall chosen as European team captain

(London) English golfer Georgia Hall will play in the Solheim Cup for the fifth time in her career after being selected as one of the European team captain’s discretionary picks for the clash with the United States next month.

Hall, three-time Grand Slam champion Anna Nordqvist of Sweden and Denmark’s Emily Kristine Pedersen will return for the European team, which defended its title with a 14-14 draw against the United States in Spain last year.

Swiss Albane Valenzuela is the only recruit chosen by captain Suzann Pettersen on Monday.

Eight players were already assured of representing Europe in this team competition: the Swedes Maja Stark, Linn Grant and Madelene Sagstrom, the English Charley Hull, the Irish Leona Maguire, the French Céline Boutier, the Spanish Carlota Ciganda and the German Esther Henseleit.

The Solheim Cup will be held September 13-15 at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia.

The United States has not won this competition since 2017, although it leads the series against Europe 10-8 on aggregate.

Team USA captain Stacy Lewis will reveal her three discretionary picks on Tuesday.

Americans Nelly Korda, Lilia Vu, Lauren Coughlin, Ally Ewing, Allisen Corpuz, Megan Khang, Andrea Lee, Rose Zhang and Alison Lee are already assured of representing the United States.
