Soldiers: specialized houses receive psychologically injured soldiers

Athos houses are specialized places for former soldiers who suffer from psychological pathologies. “I I regularly dream of what I experienced in Afghanistan, quite simply. It keeps me awake or it wakes me up”explains a former soldier who lives in one of these Athos houses. The director of the establishment, René, explains his initiative “I saw several soldiers in Bosnia or in Africa who came back marked by what they had experienced.”

The establishment is not medicalized, the objective for the soldiers is to taste again to the life. “I live again, I no longer stay locked up at home like I used to. I’m taking the bus now, I’ve even been to the cinema, something I haven’t done in years”confides David, one of the soldiers who is part of this Athos house. For him as for the other members, happiness returns little by little according to relaxation exercises and discussions.
