Four soldiers, and former soldiers, aged 22 and 23 were arrested in Angers (Maine-et-Loire), Thursday 3 November, in possession of more than 500 grams of cocaine which they are suspected of having transported from Guyana, learned franceinfo from a judicial source, confirming information from West France.
Indicted for drug trafficking, three of them were remanded in custody, while the fourth was placed under judicial supervision. The four suspects were arrested by the narcotics brigade of the Maine-et-Loire departmental security in the parking lot of a supermarket, with 70 cocaine eggs in the trunk of their car, weighing around 550 grams.
According to the first elements of the investigation, two of the four suspects were stationed in Angers and Orléans, the other two no longer being part of the army. All were from Guyana and are believed to have made several plane trips during the month of July. Roles of “mules” paid 4 000 euros.
