Solar eclipse | Thousands of people at Jean-Drapeau Park

Since 10:30 this morning, thousands of people have invaded one of the sites in Parc Jean-Drapeau to take part in the event entitled The Eclipse of the Century. An imposing security system has been put in place. Police officers and guards can be seen everywhere.


The crowd is made up of various generations. Upon arrival, each spectator receives a pair of protective glasses. Nothing was left to chance in the organization of this gathering which promises to be historic.

Speeches and musical performances by the Orchester métropolitain, Diane Dufresne and DJ Champion will take place on a large stage installed near the Three Discs by Calder sculpture.

For their part, astronaut David Saint-Jacques and astrophysicist Laurie R.-Newton prepare spectators for the phenomenon they are about to experience.
