Sofía Jirau makes history by becoming the first Victoria’s Secret model with Down’s syndrome!

Long accused of praising thinness in the age of positive body, the Victoria’s Secret brand has just proven that fashion codes have changed even within their company! And for good reason, a Puerto Rican model made history by becoming the first Victoria’s Secret top model with Down syndrome (or trisomy 21).

Sofia Jirau, 24, has indeed joined the 17 other women in the “Love Cloud Collection” collection created for Valentine’s Day. A line of underwear which has therefore already seen the light of day in February 2022.

“One day I dreamed about it, I worked on it and today it’s a dream come true”, wrote Sofia Jirau via her Instagram account. And to add: “I can finally tell you my big secret. I’m the first Victoria’s Secret model with Down syndrome. Thank you Victoria’s Secret for seeing me as a model who has #NoLimits and for including me in the inclusive Love Cloud Collection campaign”she concluded.

An Instagram post that enchanted many Internet users who wanted to congratulate the young woman in the comments. “Bravo, things are finally changing”, “The Victoria’s Secret brand is regaining my esteem”, “So happy, you are beautiful”, “Excellent news, the basic and skinny top model is so outdated”can we read on the social network.

Victoria’s Secret tries to restore its image

“From the selection of incredible women who bring the collection to life, to the incredible inclusive spirit on set, this campaign is an important part of the new Victoria’s Secret normal we are creating,” commented Raul Martinez, Creative Director of the new campaign “Love Cloud Collection”. A 100% inclusive collection that shows the brand’s desire to break away from the cult of thinness once so characteristic of models wearing Victoria’s Secret creations.
