After a little over 3 hours, Elie Domota’s custody was lifted on Thursday, December 30. The spokesperson for the LKP was arrested during the mobilization of the collective of struggle organizations, in Abymes, at the beginning of the afternoon.

It was to the cheers of sympathizers and demonstrators from the collective of struggling organizations that Elie Domota left the Pointe-à-Pitre police station free, this Thursday, December 30, around 6.30 p.m.
Free, but summoned to the criminal court on April 7.
The spokesperson for Lyannaj kont pwofitasyon was arrested shortly before 2 p.m. at the Petit-Pérou roundabout in Les Abymes. The demonstrators, after having crossed the streets of Pointoise, had taken the direction of Abymes, had found themselves facing the police. Barriers had been installed on the road to prevent the procession from passing.
And this is precisely what set fire to the powder … Raising the obstacles in order to advance, the collective, Elie Domota in the lead, hands in the air, tried to clear a passage. Protesters repelled by tear gas canisters fired by the police.
There followed the arrest of the trade unionist at the roundabout.
Handcuffed by the gendarmes, he was then handed over to the police, who took him, freed from his shackles, to the Pointe-à-Pitre police station.
Very quickly, many demonstrators gathered in front of the building, awaiting the exit of the union leader.
For its part, the UGTG reacted very quickly, speaking of aggression by the gendarmes against the leader, considering that the arrest of the LKP spokesperson was “a provocation“.
It was only 4 hours after the start of his police custody that Elie Domota was released on several counts. He is prosecuted for willful violence in a meeting with a person holding public authority, refusal to take a fingerprint and refusal to take a sample.
As soon as he was released from custody, the spokesperson for the LKP reaffirmed his commitment against the vaccination obligation and the health pass and asked, once again, to hold negotiations. He has already announced that the mobilization would resume in earnest, in January.
He is questioned by Gessy Blanquet and Jean-Marie Mavounzy:
The head of La France Insoumise, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, welcomed this release. “Elie Domota is released! Guadeloupe knows how to be respected! Happy birthday Elie“he tweeted.
