In the capital of the Dukes, Sochaux was master in his kingdom this Saturday evening in Dijon. For this regional derby, FCSM did not make feelings and logically won its duel at its Burgundian neighbor thanks to goals from Ibrahim Sissoko (26th) and Moussa Doumbia (56th). The reunion of Omar Daf with his former club has therefore turned to the advantage of Francs-Comtois extremely solid and impressive serenity. The FCSM goes on a 5th success in a row, a 1st since 2003, and took control of the championship ahead of Le Havre and Caen. Happiness in its purest form. Hope it lasts !
As in Bonal
Olivier Guégan’s men had the very clear feeling that they weren’t playing away. With a good thousand supporters present in the parking lot, (and counter-parking) visitors, Sochaux felt like home. “Big hats off to them, they pushed us from start to finish, it was wonderful to commune with them at the end” recognized Gaétan Weissbeck. The Yellow and Blue captain was also very proud of his team’s performance “Frankly, we felt that nothing could happen to us in this match, we scored at the right time, we remained calm and we put their heads under water when they were good at the start by opening the scoring.
Sochaux or quiet strength
What also pleased Olivier Guégan was to win with the way “We had a strong match, what I liked was the maturity we offered, we are progressing, but it’s our collective strength that is interesting. We brought out a lot of character, personality, but we must remain humble” immediately tempers the Sochaux coach, joined by Tony Mauricio “Be careful not to take yourself for others, because, in this championship, we can quickly come back down” warns the midfielder.
The strong-headed FCSM
With a 5th victory in a row, a 1st since 2003 as highlighted by the FCSM website, Sochaux is indeed 1st in Ligue 2 at the end of this 8th day. And for defender Yoël Armougom, it’s a real pleasure “Of course, it shows that this is where we want to be, the victories taken are no longer to be taken” smiles the ex-Caennais. Better attack, better defense and a place of leadership, Sochaux enchants its supporters. Maxence Prévot and his partners have ascended the throne of Ligue 2. They will have to be the kings of endurance to stay there until next spring.
