According to a study published Thursday, June 16, the French are more than two out of three to have the feeling that their purchasing power has decreased in the last six months. “Several months of record inflation, it feels on the wallet. Result: today, seven out of ten French people feel they have to make significant efforts to keep their budget in balance. And unfortunately, it is even more marked for the most modest: 80% of them are concerned, compared to 50% for high incomes“, explains the journalist Dorothée Lachaud on the set of 12/13.
“More than half of French people say they now often have to forgo certain expenses. Outings to bars and restaurants are the first to be sacrificed. They are followed by clothes, vacations and finally hobbies.“, reports the journalist. Food is the priority for more than half of French but also the sector where prices have risen the most. The promotions are therefore acclaimed and the sales, which begin next Wednesday, could be a solution.
