The price of electricity has increased by another 4% at the beginning of February. The increases accumulate for several months, as for gas, and therefore your energy bill soars. So to reduce it, you can lower the temperature at home a little or completely change your heating system.
Some therefore choose to change their radiators that consume electricity or gas to switch to a wood or pellet stove, which is more economical. Sales of these stoves are on the rise currently, around 20% in specialist stores in the south of the Nantes conurbation.
When we saw the last electricity bill, we decided
Isabelle and her husband, for example, go around the store a bit, looking for a pellet stove for their house which, for the moment, runs on all electricity. “We had already thought about it, we wanted to wait a little longer but when we saw the last bill for 190 euros, we thought we were going to invest in a stove“, she explains.
This couple sees the savings they will make by switching to pellets. “To heat a house of 120 m², with a pellet stove, the budget is 330 euros per year for the purchase of pellets, while with electricity, it takes almost 200 euros per month.“, specifies Philippe Salace, the manager of the “Scan-Line Groupe TDL” store in Rezé. the purchase cost of the stove between 4,000 and 10,000 euros.
Longer delays due to the health crisis
Demand is increasing so much that Flavie Martin, sales representative at “Rika” in Les Sorinières, has to keep customers waiting. She has to face a shortage of raw materials related to the health crisis. “It is often difficult to have devices and conduits delivered. The delays can go up to four or five months whereas in normal times, the maximum is two months“, she believes. This salesperson therefore tries to always have a few models in stock.
Depending on your income, you can benefit from financial assistance for the purchase of a pellet or wood stove. “MaPrimeRénov”” can go up up to 3,000 euro for a household with very low incomes.
