The Quebec snowboarder finished third on Tuesday (Beijing time) in the big jump event. A hard-won bronze medal.
After a failed landing on its first attempt, Parrot had to go into catch-up mode. He retried exactly the same maneuver on his second jump, successfully, for 93 points, one of the best scores of the final. The pressure for his third and final jump was immense. A success, and a medal was possible. A failure, and hopes flew away.
Parrot opted for a more conservative jump, which earned him 76 points. Half of his opponents then fell, which allowed the Quebecer to sneak onto the podium.
The Chinese Yiming Su was crowned Olympic champion, with three remarkable jumps. Norwegian Mons Roisland completes the top three.
The other two Canadians entered in the final, Mark McMorris and Darcy Sharpe, had a difficult day, finishing 10 respectivelyand and 12and.
Parrot had won gold in freestyle descent.
