On her first run, the native of Stoneham presented herself on the big jump on her opposite side in order to achieve a cab flip with a good plank grip. She made a successful landing and scored 68.00 points, good for 7and rank at the end of the first round led by New Zealander Zoi Sadowski-Synnott (85.50 points).

For his second pass, Blouin opted for a front side 720 with backboard grip, which earned him 67.25 points.

The 25-year-old athlete outdid herself on her last try, executing a frontside 1080 all the way up. The judges awarded him 88.25 points. The results of his first and last jump were therefore combined, for a grand total of 156.25 points. She took the 4and rank at the end of the qualifications. Only the top 12 riders got their place in the final.

Monday, at 8:30 p.m., Blouin will be looking for a second Olympic medal. She won silver in slopestyle in 2018 in PyeongChang.

Jasmine Baird ranks too

Two other Canadians, Jasmine Braid and Brooke Voigt, were high jump qualifiers. Only the first managed to make its way to the final. Like Blouin, Baird offered a cab flip on his first pass, earning 69.00 points. She got the same score on her third run, which allowed her to accumulate 129.50 points and take the 10and rank.

Voigt, 28, landed a good first jump that earned him 96.00 points. However, she was unable to repeat her next two runs, which caused her to drop in the standings. She finally concluded at 21and rank out of 30 snowboarders.
