Snowboarding | Chloe Kim will skip the 2022-23 season

(Paris) The American Chloe Kim, two-time Olympic snowboarding champion, announced that she was going to skip the 2022-23 season to “preserve (her) mental health”, while ensuring that she was determined to win a third consecutive gold medal, in 2026 in Cortina d’Ampezzo in Italy.

“I’m not going to compete in 2022-23, it’s just to preserve my sanity. I just want to be able to reset everything and not go all the way back into a season after a winter that I had fun, but was exhausting,” Kim told internet TV channel Cheddar recently.

“I want to take advantage of the moment and I will come back when I feel ready, but as I speak to you, my goal is clearly to go for a third title” in 2026, insisted the queen of the half-pipe.

After her first Olympic title in 2018 in PyeongChang at just 17 years old, Kim had struggled to live with her new status as a celebrity in American sport.

She considered ending her career, then finally took a 22-month break, before resuming competition in early 2021 and winning a second Olympic title last February at the Beijing Olympics.
