Snowboarder Arnaud Gaudet did not offer a descent that lived up to his expectations at the World Cup in Rogla, Slovenia. The Quebecer ranked 35th in the last parallel giant slalom of the season on Wednesday.

Gaudet completed his only run of the day on the track in 31.82s. His 35th place nevertheless represents the best Canadian performance of the day. The 32 best competitors advanced to the second round.
“My downhill wasn’t super good, I didn’t do what I wanted to do to keep a good line. I always end up taking too direct a trajectory, he mentioned. I’m looking forward to this summer in training to work on my giant slalom.”
The athlete from Montcalm has never reached the elimination rounds of the parallel giant slalom since the start of his World Cup career. This season, his best performance was a 26th place finish in Scuol, Switzerland, the same result as at the Beijing Olympics.
Silver medalist in parallel slalom last week, Italian Edwin Coratti won gold against Poland’s Oskar Kwiatkowski. Slovenian Tim Mastnak defeated South Korean Lee Sangho to claim the bronze medal.
The small parallel giant slalom crystal globe was awarded to Germany’s Stefan Baumeister, who finished 21st on Wednesday. He finished the season with four medals in this event, two gold and two silver.
Arnaud Gaudet will wrap up the 2021-2022 season this weekend at the World Cup in Berchtesgaden, Germany. A parallel slalom event will be presented on Saturday and a team event will take place on Sunday.
