(Calgary) Quebecer Laurie Blouin finished second in the slopestyle event of the Snowboard World Cup held Sunday in Calgary.
On her second outing on the track, Blouin posted a score of 76.41 points, which left her in second place, just under two points behind American Julia Marino.
In her third and final appearance on the track, the Stoneham athlete had to settle for a score of 45.45, but no one except fellow Canadian Jasmine Baird threatened the score Blouin had posted during his previous performance.
After scoring 76.21 on her second outing, Baird, 23, from Ontario, posted an excellent 75.80 her last time on the track, but ultimately had to settle for the bronze medal.
Marino earned the gold medal after scoring 78.36 on his first outing on the track.
Canadians Juliette Pelchat (64.50) and Émeraude Maheux (64.10) finished sixth and seventh respectively.
For Blouin, it’s a 12e career podium in the Snowboard World Cup in 35 starts, and a first since his second place in Silvaplana, Switzerland, on March 27, 2022, also in slopestyle.
His last World Cup gold medal dates back to March 6, 2022 in Bakuriani, Georgia, again in slopestyle.
