Snowboard World Cup | Arnaud Gaudet still in trial and error mode

At the end of the week, the best snowboarders on the planet will meet in Austria for the Alpine Snowboarding World Cup, held in Simonhöhe. Arnaud Gaudet, who obtained the best Canadian result on Saturday, finished 20e rank after two giant slalom runs.

“It still went well. I had two good descents technically. I did what I wanted to do and it was going well, but I lacked a little speed,” mentioned the athlete from Montcalm.

He also indicated that when snowboarders have the chance to go down on a track with such good conditions, the final times are rather tight.

“When it’s perfect like that and it’s flat, everyone is really close. I was 20e, but I was less than a second behind the leader after two runs so I’m not disappointed with my day. “, he confided.

His teammate, Jules Lefebvre, took 35e place during qualifying while Justin Carpentier did not finish the race.

The Italian Daniele Bogozza defeated the Austrian Benjamin Karl (+0.13 seconds) in the grand final. They were accompanied on the podium by Fabian Obmann, also from Austria.

Gaudet admitted to Sportcom earlier this week that he was looking for solutions to reach the top of the table. On Saturday, his comments were in the same direction.

I don’t like to say it’s the equipment’s fault, but I think right now that’s one of the flaws.

He, who was trying out a brand new board this weekend, swapped his 185 cm board for a new 190 cm one. After testing his new accessory, he quickly added that he felt very comfortable with it.

“A longer board is more stable. I’m super comfortable on it. I was still able to generate enough speed, but it lacked a bit of bounce. »

On Sunday, Gaudet will be back on the snow for the team event where he will be accompanied by his teammate Kaylie Buck. This will be, once again, an opportunity for him to try another new board.
