Snow still expected: flights delayed and canceled

Saturday remained cloudy for most of the province still under the snowflakes, which continued to progress towards western and central Quebec.

After receiving nearly 15 centimeters the day before, Montrealers had to continue to get used to the return of the snow on Saturday, with another ten additional centimeters expected during the day.

The City of Montreal has also announced its first snow loading operation, which is scheduled for Monday morning.

Those who had a flight scheduled at Montreal-Trudeau airport, however, faced some delays in their departure or arrival. It was the same for some flights from Jean-Lesage airport in Quebec, where the snow finally arrived in the night from Friday to Saturday.

  • Listen to Philippe-Vincent Foisy’s interview with Patrick De Bellefeuille, weather presenter at MÉTOMÉDIA and climate change expert on QUB-radio:

Accumulations of five centimeters are also to be expected in the next 24 hours in the Capitale-Nationale region, where temperatures remain around the freezing point.

In eastern and central Quebec, the mercury must fluctuate between -1 and 0 degrees Celsius

The Îles-de-la-Madeleine and Gaspésie are luckier with cloudy weather and temperatures around 2 degrees, but snow should appear in the area on Monday.

The north and far north will also experience a cloudy start to the weekend, with temperatures averaging -6 and -11, respectively.
