The City of Montreal is launching a fourth snow loading operation on its territory. All the boroughs will have to get started “gradually” by this Sunday, starting at 7 p.m.

Spreading and clearing operations were already underway on Friday, “to facilitate travel,” assured the Plante administration. As of Sunday, however, nearly 2,200 snow removal vehicles will load snow on more than 10,000 kilometers of roadways, sidewalks and bike paths.
As required by protocol, hospitals, access to public transport networks and major arteries will be “prioritized” by City teams, we are assured.
Notice to residents: nearly 8,000 incentive parking spaces are available free of charge in the boroughs, especially at night. Montreal, for its part, promises a “rapid withdrawal of parking bans once the loading is completed in order to limit the periods of parking bans”, paying “special attention” to the sidewalks.
Remember that the progress of the snow loading operation can be followed live on the Ville de Montréal website.
Across Quebec, the winter storm forced the closure of more than a thousand schools and school service centers across the province on Friday, when snow and freezing rain made travel much more difficult on several large Main highways. According to Environment Canada, up to 20 centimeters should have been received in total in several areas of Montreal, while in Quebec, we are talking about between 15 and 30 centimeters.
