On Friday, December 31, gigantic fires broke out near Denver, Colorado in the United States. But the next day, Saturday 1er January, the snow has shaken everything up.

The snow smothered the last flames of the fire that broke out on December 31 in Colorado (United States). Under the flakes, remains of ashes. In less than 24 hours, the contrast is striking: the fire is finally under control, while entire neighborhoods have burned down. “I’m in shock, it’s amazing how fast it went“Says a resident. And the damage is considerable: more than 500 houses have been devastated.”There could have been dozens of deaths. Thousands of people only had a few minutes to leaveColorado Governor Jared Polis explains.

The fire is said to have started with the fall of an electric cable on arid soil, in this state which has been in the throes of extreme drought for several years. The wind then helped spread the flames. “We sometimes have strong winds, but it’s rare to see them so powerful“, comments the mayor of a devastated town.
