Snow at the end of April in Montreal

No, you’re not dreaming. On this Wednesday at the end of April, there is indeed snow falling in the greater Montreal area.

No need to bring out coats, shovels and blowers, though. This winter-like episode will be short-lived. Environment Canada predicts that this winter surge will end in the afternoon, and that the weather will be clear thereafter.

The night will, however, be somewhat chilly, with the mercury expected to drop to a minimum of -4°C.

The federal agency then sees sunshine for the metropolitan area on Thursday and Friday, with maximum temperatures of 9°C and 15°C, respectively. The terrace season is therefore safe, in principle.

The picture is quite similar elsewhere in Quebec. The only notable exception to the picture: Gaspé, where snow will appear overnight, sometimes even in the form of blowing snow in places. Accumulations of 2 to 4 centimeters are expected, according to Environment Canada.

Everything will continue until Thursday morning, before giving way to clear weather and sunshine.
