(Montreal) Several thousand Hydro-Quebec customers are without power on Friday morning after the passage of freezing rain and snow over part of the province.
Around 6:45 a.m., the Crown corporation reported about fifty outages across Quebec, or more than 18,000 subscribers affected.
The most affected regions are the Laurentians (6,815 customers), Lanaudière (5,888 customers), Montérégie (3,671 customers) and Centre-du-Québec (1,883 customers).
Environment Canada had issued freezing rain warnings on Thursday for several areas, ranging from the Outaouais to Mauricie, while a snow warning was in effect for regions further north.
Snow accumulations of 10 to 15 cm are also expected Friday in several areas of eastern Quebec, according to the federal agency.
